Thank You From David Kerry... 
Mary's Walk 1999

Thanks for help with Mary's walk, road race  On behalf of the Libby and Kerry families, I wish to thank all the sponsors, media, walk/race participants, volunteers, and financial contributors to the “Mary's Walk and Kerrymen Pub Road Race” held this weekend. 

While it will take a couple of weeks to identify all those who contributed their time and money to make this event such an extraordinary success, we anticipate we will be contributing between fifteen to twenty thousand dollars to the “Maine Cancer Research and Education Foundation” and to the “Bryan Kuprewicz Fund.”  In addition, our families wish to appropriately recognize and give our heartfelt thanks to the leaders and key organizers who spent so many weeks and months planning and preparing for this most enjoyable and worthwhile event. Once again, in order to avoid missing anyone who made this a personal, in-kind or financial contribution to the walk/race, we will thoroughly review our volunteer and contributors lists in hopes of providing well-deserved credit where it is due. One need only reflect on the warm feelings and ample affections that permeated the hundreds of families from southern Maine who gathered to honor the memory of our dear Mary Kerry Libby, and give financial and moral support to Bryan Kuprewicz of Sanford, a fine young athlete who is courageously winning his battle with cancer, to realize that many people contributed to this well organized and successful fund-raiser. 

In closing, we know Mary's positive attitude, loving spirit and profound faith continues to sustain and unite us as a family. As we watched hundreds of caring and generous individuals from eight weeks to eighty-six years old stretch the length of Saco's Main Street for as far as the eye could see, we can say with the profound faith and wisdom of our mother, Grace, who remarked, “Isn't the spirit wonderful. It's as if Mary has never left us.” Hopefully, in our small way, the Libbys, the Kerrys and all the wonderful people who participated in and contributed to “Mary's Walk and the Kerrymen Pub Road Race” can share Mary's positive attitude, unselfish love and profound faith with other families who are confronted with cancer, and in need of moral support during their time of illness. Mark your calendar for the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day, in the Year 2000, and join us for the Millennium Walk and Race.
